Greetings from QS Division CPD Sub-Committee!

Fellow Surveyors, students and friends.

Last year, we had the opportunity to organize the ‘Green Qs’ event, which was held at UTM KL. In this event, we were introduced to the subject of sustainable timber in construction. To those who attended the event, does the word ‘Glulam’ rings a bell? As a refresher, Glulam or glued laminated timber is a type of structural timber product composed of several layers of dimensioned timber bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives. Research has shown that Glulam structure can be more durable compared to concrete!

Nonetheless, we feel now is the time to learn more about the subject. Hence, we invite you to join us in our Green Walk at our national’s own green lush, i.e. FRIM. This event is not simply a walkabout. It is a walkabout with a bit of a twist – a technical green walkabout but in ‘different’ style.

Grab this opportunity to learn more about the benefits of timber from FRIM’s very own expert and enjoy a guided tour to see the actual Glulam structures available within FRIM’s site. You will also experience the thrill crossing FRIM’s canopy walk and relax your mind at its waterfall pit stop.
